Sera Ella (Singhalesisch: සේර ඇල්ල) ist ein Wasserfall im Dorf Pothatawela, einem Ort in der Nähe von Laggala im Distrikt Matale in Sri Lanka . Er besteht aus dem Wasser des Kitul-Kanals, der den Kaudagammana-Gipfel hinunterfließt, und dem Hunumadala-Fluss, der aus den Bergen von Gonamada und Deyuthu Gammmaduwa fließt und sich zum Puwakpitiya-Fluss zusammenfügt, einem Wasserweg, der die Sera-Ella-Wasserfälle verbindet und an seinem Wasserfall den Wasserfall bildet Punkt

Der Sera-Ella-Wasserfall teilt sich in zwei Abschnitte auf, wenn er die Felswand hinabstürzt. Beide fallen 10 m in die Tiefe und sind vom Dumbara-Dschungel aus sichtbar. Der Herbst fließt das ganze Jahr über und ist während der Monsunzeit zwischen November und März am stärksten. Eines der interessanten Merkmale dieses Wasserfalls ist die Höhle hinter dem Wasserfall. Um zu dieser Höhle zu gelangen, wurden Stufen angelegt, die auch bei vollem Wasserfall sicher erreicht werden können.

Es gibt verschiedene Meinungen darüber, wie Sera Ella zu seinem Namen kam. Einer Meinung zufolge leitet sich der Name des Wasserfalls von der Fischart „ Sera “ ab, die im Wasser lebt. Eine andere Meinung ist, dass der Name Sera Ella erklärt, dass die Schönheit dieses Wasserfalls genau wie die herabhängenden Blätter eines Sera-Baums ( Zitronengras ) ist. Einige Leute behaupten auch, dass dieser Wasserfall den Namen Sera Ella erhielt, weil er die Art und Weise widerspiegelt, wie eine Handvoll Sera-Samen von der Handfläche herunterfällt, wenn sie von der kleinen Fingerseite der Hand herabgelassen wird.
