Über Bundala

Bundala-Nationalpark ist ein international bedeutendes Überwinterungsgebiet für wandernde Wasservögel Sri Lanka . Bundala beherbergt 197 Vogelarten, der Höhepunkt ist der Rosaflamingo, der in großen Schwärmen durchzieht. Bundala wurde 1969 zum Naturschutzgebiet erklärt und am 4. in einen Nationalpark umgewandelt Januar 1993. Im Jahr 1991 wurde Bundala als erstes Feuchtgebiet in Sri Lanka zum Ramsar-Gebiet erklärt. Im Jahr 2005 wurde der Nationalpark von der UNESCO zum Biosphärenreservat erklärt, dem vierten Biosphärenreservat in Sri Lanka. Der Nationalpark liegt 245 Kilometer (152 Meilen) südöstlich von Colombo.

Um Bezirk Hambantota

Hambantota ist eine ländliche Stadt im südöstlichen Küstengebiet von Sri Lanka . Es ist auch die Hauptstadt der Bezirk Hambantota im Südliche Provinz von Sri Lanka. Ungefähr 240 km entfernt Colombo , Hambantota, befindet sich mitten in der Umwandlung in ein strategisches Hafen- und Handelszentrum und durchläuft umfangreiche Infrastrukturentwicklungen. Hambantota ist von weitläufigen Sandstränden umgeben und ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge zu nahegelegenen Sehenswürdigkeiten.

Der Bundala-Nationalpark liegt 20 km östlich von Hambantota und dem Weerawila-Heiligtum etwas weiter weg. Der Ruhuna-Nationalpark und das Kataragama Tempel sind weitere Attraktionen, die von dieser Stadt aus leicht zu erreichen sind.

Um Südliche Provinz

Die Südprovinz Sri Lanka ist ein kleines geografisches Gebiet, das aus den Bezirken besteht Galle , Matara Und Hambantota . Subsistenzlandwirtschaft und Fischerei sind für die überwiegende Mehrheit der Menschen in dieser Region die Haupteinnahmequelle.

Zu den wichtigen Wahrzeichen der Südprovinz zählen die Wildschutzgebiete Yala und Udawalawe-Nationalparks , die heilige Stadt Kataragama und die antiken Städte von Tissamaharama , Kirinda und Galle . (Obwohl Galle eine antike Stadt ist, ist aus der Zeit vor der portugiesischen Invasion fast nichts mehr erhalten.) Während der portugiesischen Zeit gab es zwei berühmte singhalesische Dichter namens Andare, die aus dieser Stadt stammten Dickwella und Gajaman Nona, der aus Denipitiya im Distrikt Matara stammte und Gedichte über den einfachen Mann verfasste.

About Hambantota District

Hambantota is a rural town in southeastern coastal area of Sri Lanka. It is also the capital of the Hambantota District in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. Approximately 240 kms from Colombo,Hambantota is in the midst of transformation into a strategic port and commercial centre, undergoing extensive infrastructure development. Flanked by sweeping sandy beaches,Hambantota is a convenient location from which to visit nearby sights.

The Bundala National Park lays 20 km east of Hambantota and the Weerawila Sanctuary a little further off. The Ruhuna National Park and theKataragama Temple are other attractions that can be accessed easily from this city.

About Southern Province

The Southern Province of Sri Lanka is a small geographic area consisting of the districts of GalleMatara and Hambantota. Subsistence farming and fishing is the main source of income for the vast majority of the people of this region.

Important landmarks of the Southern Province include the wildlife sanctuaries of the Yala and Udawalawe National Parks, the holy city of Kataragama, and the ancient cities of Tissamaharama, Kirinda and Galle. (Although Galle is an ancient city, almost nothing survives from before the Portuguese invasion.) During the Portuguese period there were two famous Sinhalese poets called Andare who was from Dickwella and Gajaman Nona who was from Denipitiya in Matara District, composing poems on common man.
